The Tumacacori Mission

Started in 1691 the mission was occupied by Jesuit missionaries until 1767. Then Franciscans until 1848. In 1853 it became part of the United States with the Gadsden purchase.
In 1908 it became a National Monument and then in 1916 it became the Tumacacori National Historical Park.
Carol and I drove down highway 83 through Sonoita and Patagonia to Nogales. What a beautiful drive. After leaving Nogales we headed north to Tumacacori and then Tubac and eventually back to the RV.
