Sat. & Sunday, May 3 & 4

Lapeer, Michigan

We made it to Mark and Sandys around 2:00 in the afternoon, immediately after setting up the 5th wheel we took off on an sight seeing excursion. Several stops, very pretty country side. Mark was born and raised here so he knows all the back roads.
This is the Lapeer County Courthouse, the first courthouse built in Michigan in 1846. We went to dinner at the White Horse Inn in Metamora. This was a stop in the stagecoach and a stop over to catch the train later---excellent food. Mark is a distant relative of the man who started the inn and he has the same last name so that makes the employees take note!

This is the sign on the high school in Lapeer....where the NFL #1 draft pick this year graduated from high school.

Here is the campsite at Mark and Sandy's backyard RV Park. It is a select site, very quiet with all of the amenities. It is the best!

On Sunday, May4, Mark and Sandy took us on another tour of the pretty Michigan countryside. We ended up in a very quaint little town, Frankenmuth. It was started by the Lutherans and looks like it came right out of Bavaria. We visited the world's largest Christmas store, Bronner's, and Steve said, "what, a Christmas store?". Well, he had as much fun as I did just looking at every ornament and decoration that you can imagine, oh, and yes we did some shopping here! The most unusual thing is that no one took their camera so we have no pictures, but you can visit www.bronners.com and check it out! We then had lunch at a biker bar---right across the street. What a contrast!
