Shepherdsville, Kentucky

Today was the nicest day we've had since leaving Montana. No wind, blue sky's and in the 80's. After breakfast we took a scenic route back to Louisville, thanks to "Dottie" (our GPS). Our first stop was the Louisville Slugger factory and museum. What a nice tour, both of us really enjoyed it. After the tour and the short movie about the thrill of baseball and "the crack of the bat" we went to the souvenir store. You can buy a custom bat with engraving plus much more. We purchased personalized bats for the grandsons and some other items. While we were at the factory I hit some fast balls from the pitching machine, I went 7 out of 10 with one fouling off my foot.....ouch! The we spent a few hours walking along the Ohio river and watching all that was happening, the Louisville Open, AVP Beach Volleyball tour is the big weekend event. About 3 blocks down the river they had rock and roll bands playing with vendors booths and/or tents selling just about everything.
We continued to walk around downtown "Old Louisville". One plaque I read on a very old building said that at this location General Ulysses Grant and General Sherman met to plan Sherman's march to the sea. A lot of history here,
After leaving downtown we drove through University of Louisville campus, very nice and you would never guess their mascot is the Cardinal and their colors are black and red, it's everywhere.
Churchill Downs is very close to the campus so we stopped by for some pictures. Horse racing was going on so we didn't go in.
We returned to the RV park around 6:00 PM, dinner and couple of drinks. Tomorrow we may be heading Perryville, location of the largest Civil War battle in Kentucky. Also we're watching the weather, sounds like a turn to nasty tomorrow night.
Sorry about only 2 pictures, in the process of transferring from camera to computer I deleted almost all the pictures we took today. How? don't know!
