Mackinaw City, Michigan
This morning it was cloudy, very cool, light rain we drove just a short distance on I 35 to the Thompson Hill rest area. What a view, Lake Superior, both bridges and the city of Duluth. It’s worth the stop at this rest area for the view. The bridges, one is the longest and the other is the tallest in Minnesota. We drove across the tallest. It was not very comfortable; the winds were really pushing us from the right side. Then we traveled east on 2, 28 and 41 through Wisconsin and the “UP”, Michigan’s’ Upper Peninsula. We made several stops along Lake Superior’s shores and Carol also found some wild rice to buy in Wisconsin. Around 6:00 PM we began crossing the “Big Mac”, the monstrous bridge that connects Upper Michigan to lower. We got setup at the Mackinaw City KOA, again no one here but us, then we went and had a very good dinner at “Audies”.
