Pocatello, Idaho HAPPY BIRTHDAY! NOAH LAIRD, #5

This photo of Aidan had nothing to do with our trip. I just thought it was a great picture of Aidan from our last fishing trip a couple of weeks ago.
We woke this morning, got ready to go, had breakfast, loaded a few more last minute items and opened the door for Mitzee so she could finally get in the truck (she's always so worried that we'll leave her). We left the driveway around 8:00 AM.
Very cool and cloudy today, it was that way until we hit the Idaho border. Just south of the border we had blue sky's and temperatures in the 70's.

Crossing the Flathead River heading towards Bigfork on Highway 82. Looking south towards Flathead Lake.
Driving south on the Swan Highway, Swan Lake on the right. This is about the location I had a grizzly and her 2 cubs cross right in front of me a couple years ago.
Pulled over in the Swan Valley, the Swan Mountain range in the background.

Salmon Lake on the far south end of the Swan Highway, just a few miles north of Clearwater Junction.

After leaving the Swan Valley we headed for I90 and then east to I15 near Butte. Driving south on I15 we drove along the Big Hole River & the Beaverhead River. It was evident that fall was in the air. The antelope bucks had their does all herded up, all the hay and alfalfa has been cut, stacked and covered, fisherman were busy on the rivers with a fall midge hatch and the snow looks like it is slowly inching it's way down the mountains. We pass a coyote fating up on a deer that didn't make it across the highway.
Fall is a beautiful time to travel so much to see and much of it is just off the roads edge.

Clark Canyon Reservoir south of Dillon. Water level is low but I'm sure that is planned to accommodate the spring run off .

Tomorrow we head for Moab, Utah with a little shopping stop at Cabela's in Lehi, Utah. I'll take plenty of pictures.
