Albuquerque- Petroglyphs National Monument

A visit to Petroglyphs National Monument is like a walk through history of the area. Images are estimated to be 400 to 3000 years old. From ancestors of the Native people, to Spaniards and early explorers there are over 20,000 images etched in the stone of the park area. Visit the area and see if you feel a presence.

These flowering shrubs were growing out of the lava rock, it must hold enough nutrients and water.

BEEP-BEEP.............yes, that's a roadrunner

A few of the petroglyphs we saw.

This one is thought to have been made by Spaniards.
