Eisenhower Home at Gettysburg

One day while at Gettysburg we visited General and Mamie Eisenhower's home. The Eisenhower's purchased the farm in 1950. When the remodeling began they found a decaying 200 year old cabin beneath the brick veneer. The house could not be saved but Mamie insisted that construction salvage and use what materials they could. By 1955 the new house was completed with 8 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, stately living room, formal dining room, kitchen and butlers pantry and a glassed in porch. The porch was their favorite room.
While touring the home Carol finds a quote from Mamie Eisenhower in the master bedroom, "a women deserves to sleep in until noon when she reaches 50". UH OH!
